Junior Squash

Those children who have discovered a passion for the game and invested a significant amount of time (usually 1-2 years) in developing their skills can take on the added challenge and excitement of competing in organized tournament play.

US Squash, the national governing body of our sport, sanctions tournaments (including many in the greater New York area) and publishes national rankings throughout the year. Boys and girls play in separate divisions based on their age group: Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 (upon turning 19 players are no longer considered juniors).

The very best junior squash players tend to start early and gain experience in each of the age groups, but it is not uncommon for particularly talented and motivated youngsters to pick up the sport in their early teens and make a significant mark on the competitive scene.
